Opportunity AI is a vibrant, growing community of over 150 professionals from more than 70 philanthropies committed to accelerating economic mobility through uses of artificial intelligence.
The impact sector has lagged the for-profit sector in using AI to power its work, in part due to a lack of philanthropic capital. Opportunity AI aims to increase the flow of funding to economic mobility interventions by providing its members with technical knowledge from leading-edge experts, facilitating new multi-donor projects, and developing community among funders and practitioners.
We are energetic, nimble, and member-driven. When funders act together, we can drive collective action to ensure artificial intelligence benefits those who need it most.
Our primary focus areas include:
Collaborative Action — We convene funders to co-create and co-fund impactful projects, leveraging our broad network of more than 150 professionals at over 70 philanthropic entities.
Knowledge Sharing — Through monthly learning sessions, technical trainings, curated content, and in-person events, we deepen funder expertise and provide actionable insights into the latest AI trends.
Catalyzing Innovation — As cross-funder relationships have deepened, our members have collectively created and contributed to projects such as the Fall 2024 Fund.AI convening, the Robin Hood AI Poverty Challenge, and an expansion of Work Shift’s coverage of AI and opportunity.
In 2026, Opportunity AI is facilitating topic-specific working groups of its membership community toward catalyzing new multi-donor projects. Two areas of intensive work include developing practitioner-facing tools that shed light on AI’s unfolding impact on jobs and skills, and AI capacity-building for less-technical impact organizations.
